I am all worked up about something!

I like to tell myself that I don't get worked up about most things. I do have some pet peeves which include:

1. people not REALLY listening when you are talking to them on the phone.
2. Drew when he paces while talking on the phone.
3. My children using excessive amounts of toilet paper

and now one added to the list that is probably the most ANNOYING and gets me VERY WORKED UP ( Call Bridgett to verify)

4. The parking situation at Central Elementary and the WORST Mom drivers in America who nearly hit children and other cars every single day because how horrible is it to wait 2 extra minutes to pick up your child from school???

Last year the parking was horrible. Mom's would double park and drive like crazy people to be the first to pick up their kid. I would always patiently wait my turn in a long like to make a SAFE one lane. I got news last year that they were spending loads of money to re-vamp the parking lot and I was super excited thinking they would finally make only enough room for 1 car in the pick up lane so we could avoid all of these problems. WAS I EVER WRONG!!!!!!

When I went to school to pick McKenzie up from school yesterday not only was the pick up lane new and beautifully paved, but it was no wide enough for 3 cars... that's right... 3 cars. So now we have mom's racing their way to get into any crevace they could find to wait for their kids to come out of school. Here is what I saw yesterday...

Blue car parked illegally on the opposite side of the lane. Me parked where I am supposed to be waiting. Here comes blue cars kids RUNNING very excited school is over and there is mom. Kids run into "herd of cars" without looking and then what do I see... Silver minivan cruising up the space inbetween not seeing the kids and kids not seeing them. I honked on my horn to get the kids attention because I could see a disaster waiting to happen. Mom in blue car does nothing... silver van slams on breaks and then continues to hurry into an open space to wait for her kids.

So now our parking lot is a million times more dangerous because people in Sugar City apparently don't know how to drive and I am going to do something about it. I considered wearing hunter orange and standing in the middle of the lane holding a big sign that says " Don't TRIPLE PARK IDIOTS" but Drew tells me that isn't very effective. So therefore this is what I have decided...

I am going to get a petition started and take it to the school board or Superintendent of the district and say I won't quit my rampage until you make the drop off/pick up lane a 1 lane road and make it safer for everyone. I have a right to be able to pick my child up from school without worrying she or I will get hit by a car.

So if you want to help me please let me know... you can sign your name or I can make you a sign too! :)

I think that it would be wise to do something about the situation. (Not that I have kids at Central, but I don't want anything to happen to anyone) I think that you should take a stand and do something. I'll support you.

oh my goodness! That sounds crazy! At my kids school they make us wait in one line to pick up the kids. The kids come out with a few teachers/helpers and sit and wait all together in front of the school. We have a paper with our childs name that is on the windshield of our car and as we drive up a lady with a megaphone calls out the childs name and tells them to go to spot 1, 2 or 3 where they will be picked up. A fifth grade student is at each spot designated as helpers after school and opens the car door and the child gets in. It would be insane to do it like your school! You'll have to let us know what they do about it. Go Lisa!

This is why I love you. Good for you for doing something about it. My school is just as bad but the kids are trying to run through buses because the parents can't wait 5 more minutes for the buses to leave. So the students disobey the teachers and try to leave because parent have threatened them to come out on the first bell. And they are to lazy to get out of their cars and walk their child to the car. We had parents sending their 3 year olds through to get the school children. Maybe you can make a difference for all school districts!

Oh AMEN to the "Not listening" that is my HUGE pet peeve also.

I would love to see you stand with flags and a whole getup. It would be hilarious! Good luck with all of it! It is good you are taking a stand. To many stand back and do nothing when they want something changed!!

GO GET EM!!

Okay, okay. I will really listen when you call me on the phone!! I want to be the first to sign your petition. It isn't like we don't have several children coming to school after Cambree and McKenzie are done so we should do something NOW!! I love how you get into the spirit of EVERYTHING you do!! You are such a great example to me. By the way, you ARE the teacher on Sunday and there won't be any help. Tammy is gone. Will call and talk to you later and will really focus on the phone call.
